In an effort to continue to help make Springfield “green” for homeowners and businesses, WindSolarUSA is launching a group purchasing initiative called “Go Solar Springfield.” An informational session is currently scheduled at Café Moxo on August 25.
The overall program – described as a “one-stop shop” for those interested in utilizing solar energy – uses American-made modules and IBEW DG-certified electrical installers. It also includes free site assessments coupled with financial performance modeling. “One of the things we were looking to do as a renewable energy company was to increase the awareness of solar as a green alternative,” said Michelle Knox, WindSolarUSA founder and president. “As cost continues to come down and the payback windows shrink, we felt now would be a good time to introduce the ‘Go Solar Springfield’ group purchasing plan.” By negotiating bulk purchase pricing for products and installation for the program, Springfield and Sangamon County residents and business owners can now install solar on their homes or buildings for well below today’s market prices. For most systems in the city of Springfield, paybacks run under three years on commercial systems, and five years for residential, due in part to an additional rebate offered to CWLP customers through their Solar Rewards Program. The event at Moxo is free, though registration is required. Additional sessions are being scheduled and will be posted on the WindSolarUSA Facebook page.
